How to compare between Indian Insurance Providers?

There are numerous benefits of a Student Health & Travel Insurance plan, and some of the very basic aspects are covered by almost all Indian Insurance Providers. You need to carefully read the policy document to ensure that it does cover these basic facilities. Obtaining the best value from your plan is possible if you carefully Compare Student Travel Insurance – How to Get the Best Value

  1. Medical Expenses

Any sickness or injury resulting in hospitalization or OPD services is covered under the medical expenses. Medical expenses are nothing but the Sum Insured, for which you are willing to buy the insurance. This is also the basic cover amount that is being asked by the university.

  2. Medical Evacuation

An illness or an injury, at times may require that you are attended to in a more suitable/better facility in another country or in your country of residence, in concurrence with your family members. The insurance company would arrange and/or pay to –

    • Transport you to the nearest appropriate medical facilities, and/or
    • Transport you to your home as part of, or after, a medical evacuation.

Medical Transportation and Evacuation is not a very expensive benefit and we strongly recommend that this feature is added to your plan, if it is not already inbuilt. It includes ambulance or any mode of transfer by air, ground or water.

  3. Repatriation of Mortal Remains

In the unfortunate circumstance when death occurs during your trip, the costs and the logistics of preparing and returning your remains back to India can be an additional burden to your family, relatives or friends. Depending on the location of the country that the body is in, this will be done by air, water or ground. Typically, insurance plans include this benefit when the insured individual has a covered illness or injury that results in death.

  4. Personal Liability

With Personal Liability cover, in the event of your becoming legally liable to a third party under the law for an incident which results in death, injury or damage to the health of such a third party, or in the damage to her/his properties, an amount not exceeding the Sum Insured for Personal Liability is paid directly to the affected party.

  5. Bail Bond

If your International Student Travel Insurance plan covers you with a ‘Bail Bond’, then in case you are arrested or detained by the police or judicial authorities when abroad, and if the offense is bailable, then the amount up to the specific Sum Assured will be provided. We hope you never have to use this benefit. But it helps when you know that your insurance covers you for that.

  6. Sponsor Protection

With Sponsor Protection benefit in your International Student Travel Insurance plan, in the case of an injury from an accident leading to death of the sponsor, the insurance company will reimburse the tuition fees incurred for the remaining period of the student’s overseas education up to the Sponsor Benefit Sum Insured.

  7. Study Interruption Cover

This could be anything from a lengthy hospitalization, medical repatriation/evacuation to the home/other country, or death of an immediate family member – that can cause you to cut your studies short mid-way. In such cases, the company will indemnify for tuition fees which are to be paid to the educational institute on account of the insured person having to repeat the semester.

  8. Compassionate Visit

With Compassionate Visit benefit, you cover the cost incurred by the Insured for the actual cost of a return (two-way) economy class air ticket for an immediate family member from the country of residence to the place of hospitalization where the insured person is hospitalized for more than 7 consecutive days (could be different depending on your plan).

  9. Journey – Related Cover

This covers baggage loss, delay in baggage, loss of passport, flight delay, loss of laptop, personal liability, and credit card frauds. (Could be different depending on your plan)
